At the zenith of its power abuse, the PDP, Nigeria’s former ruling party, preened in its fixation with power, no matter how badly procured. PDP … PAWA!
It was almost a throwback to John Keats, the English romantic poet, in his “Ode on a Grecian Urn”. Keats was tragic in personal and family afflictions as PDP is tragic in self-inflicted corporate catastrophes. The poet’s gripping conclusion, of the Urn: “Beauty is truth, truth is beauty, -- that is all/Ye know on earth, and all Ye need to know”!
To the PDP-era power brutes, power was all they knew and all they needed to know! But see where that had landed them: in the neither-nor nether zone, drifting between fretful life and painful death! PAWA!

Were the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to have a motto, what would it be? Drama! ADC … Drama – but of the most comical hue!
Now, the procured ADC is another PDP rite of passage. Its procurer-in-chief is no less than former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the great presidential wanderer!
Since 2003/2007, when imperial President Olusegun Obasanjo shoved Vice President Atiku off the PDP, Atiku bailed out to run for president on the then Action Congress (AC). Since then, he has had no rest: running, running and running to no end! But neither has he reached his presidential destination! Will he ever get there?
Indeed, it’s for yet another run that his PDP faction procured ADC. But ADC’s problem is though it’s hyperactive and boasts to be very much alive; it’s more ghostly than the PDP, which at least admits it’s in big trouble! ADC’s tragic lot is its ghostly drama.

So, it’s one day, one drama. If Nasir El-Rufai isn’t talking himself into a storm, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ex-Saraki loyalist and ADC national publicity secretary, would blab over electoral missions-impossible, only to eat crow after each thumping electoral defeat!
Abdullahi, of course, is not new to political intrigues. According to “Headlines & Soundbites”, Alhaji Lai Mohammed’s memoirs of his ministerial years, Abdullahi was the mole Bukola Saraki left, as APC national publicity secretary, after re-crossing to PDP, long after trading APC’s right to Deputy Senate President (DSP) to seize the Senate Presidency.
But Abdullahi-as-mole was busted by Alhaji Lai and his group in their native Kwara. The immediate result was the “O-to-ge” Kwara electoral uprising of 2019. Now, Saraki and PDP are in political Golgotha. Ex-DSP Ike Ekweremadu, who received Saraki’s “stolen good” is in a British jail.
Now, to think Abdullahi belongs to that Saraki rump, split between the dying PDP and the ghostly ADC!
The moral? ADC had better get serious. Political comedy and drama won’t save it from electoral guillotining in 2027. Breaking news: the presidential and National Assembly elections are less than one year away!
