The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called for the replacement of the current Constitution with a brand-new document that reflects the will, faith, realities, and aspirations of all Nigerians.

It described the existing constitution as “a contraption” imposed by the military and unfair to Christians.

Speaking at the end of the PFN National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, the fellowship’s President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, addressed reporters on key national issues, including constitutional reform, insecurity, electoral integrity, governance, and recent coup allegations.

Oke insisted that Nigeria does not need further amendments to the 1999 Constitution but a complete replacement.

“What we need is not constitutional amendments; what we need is a brand-new constitution that will meet the needs of Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, the present constitution disproportionately references Islam and Sharia while making no mention of Christianity, despite Christians constituting over 50 per cent of Nigeria’s population.
