A 39-year-old man, Ojo Samuel, on Wednesday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged N10 million fraud.

The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a one-count charge of fraud.

The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes between May 23, 2025 and January 2026 in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant, a staff of COZY Lounge, fraudulently converted the sum of N10 million to his own personal use, by not remitting the money into the lounge’s account, belonging to Mr Michael Adesina, the of COZY Lounge.

Oriyomi said that the offence contravened Section 295 and punishable under Section 302(6) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Femi Olarewaju, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until March 16 for hearing.
