The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 23 suspected cultists and recovered five firearms during coordinated operations across parts of the state.
The raids, carried out in Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Okoko, Ilasan, Ogba and Iju, targeted cult groups and illegal arms possession, a statement by the command's spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said.
Four suspects linked to the Buccaneers Confraternity were arrested in Ikorodu. On Lagos Island, nine suspects were apprehended at a criminal hideout, while five others were arrested in Ilasan over the killing of Emmanuel Obioson, said Adebisi.
She added that a suspect associated with the Eiye Confraternity was also intercepted in Okoko with a firearm.

In Ogba and Iju, four suspects were arrested for alleged involvement in illegal cult gatherings and assault. Police said weapons used in the attacks were recovered and injured victims were receiving treatment.
"Recovered exhibits include five locally made pistols, a toy pistol, 15 live cartridges, three expended cartridges, police and army camouflage face caps, and a jack knife," the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling cultism and violent crimes, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
