The police have arrested four suspects for allegedly using the name of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to defraud a retired military officer of N150 million.

One of the suspects, Yashim Kajang, of No. 3 Martin Elegoma Street, Nigeria Army Post Housing E, Phase 1, Kurudu, was apprehended on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, for allegedly defrauding Major General A.K. Ibrahim (rtd) and other victims of over N150 million in a purported land transaction in Guzape II Cadastral Zone, Abuja.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Kajang allegedly convinced the victims that he had links with the FCT Minister and the Director of Lands.

He reportedly collected the money under the pretext of securing land documents for Plot 1985 in Guzape II, measuring three hectares, along with other plots.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly identified his accomplices as Stephen Mhambe and Danladi Jatau, both staff of the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA), as well as Terngu Ipaven of No. 2 Chief Palace Road, Durumi 2, Abuja.

Upon interrogation, Yashim Kajang confessed that the trio of Stephen Mhambe, Danladi Jatau and Terngu Ipaven, supplied him with data and information of Lands he used in the fraudulent deal.

Olayinka said the four suspects are currently under investigation.
