Olayinka said the suspect, after interrogation, had been conveyed to a medical facility for necessary treatment due to injuries sustained from the mob attack.
He said that the suspect would later be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
Olayinka said Olugbenga warned residents in the state against acts of jungle justice.
Olugbenga said that such unlawful actions impede thorough investigation and ultimately truncate the course of justice.
The CP reassured members of the public that justice would be served in the matter and urged residents to remain law-abiding and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
