Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old suspected armed robber and cultist, Collins Darlington, in connection with a string of robberies in Warri metropolis.

Darlington, said to be from the Ughewughe community in Ughelli South Local Government Area, was apprehended on February 22 at about 3:20 p.m. by the CP Special Assignment Team following “credible intelligence” and coordinated surveillance, according to a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

The statement said the suspect was arrested at Otor Uweku area of Ughelli town and, during interrogation, led operatives to a bush in Jedo area of Warri where “a locally made gun concealed in the ground was recovered.”

Police said the suspect “confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity and admitted involvement in several door-to-door robbery incidents within Warri.”

Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to tackle crime, noting that it “remains committed to intelligence-driven policing and the protection of lives and property.”

He urged residents to continue to provide “credible and timely information” to support ongoing efforts to apprehend other members of the gang still at large.
