Operatives of the Ajuwon Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of 38-year-old Stanley Okorie in the Akute area of the state, thwarting an attempted concealment of the crime.

The suspects—Maureen Okirie, 35, alongside two minors, Salia Karikari, 15, and Jubril Karikari, 12—were apprehended on Thursday, April 9, following an anonymous tip-off about suspicious activity in the area.

Police detectives who responded to the alert reportedly intercepted one of the suspects attempting to bury the victim’s body in a shallow grave, an action believed to be aimed at concealing the incident.

Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, said preliminary findings indicated that the victim sustained a severe head injury.

He added that investigations suggest the victim was attacked with a wooden pestle, while other suspects, reportedly relatives of the deceased, were linked to both the incident and the attempted cover-up.

The suspected weapon has been recovered, and the body has been deposited at Life Channel Mortuary in Olambe for autopsy.

Oluseyi further disclosed that the suspects remain in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

He urged residents to report suspicious activities through the Ogun State Police Command’s emergency channels, including the toll-free Gateway Shield number: 0800 000 9111.
