Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested three suspects linked to the kidnapping and subsequent release of a woman identified as Marian Remi at Lafayo Farm Settlement via Alaraba Village, Ile-Ife.

The suspects—Musa Ajibola (29), Hassan Mohammadu (63), and Umaru Hassan (19)—were apprehended on April 21 at Latayo Farm Settlement, Ile-Ife, following credible intelligence from members of the public.

Confirming the arrests, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the suspects confessed to their roles during the investigation and provided useful information about the operation.

He added that efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.

Ayanlade said, "The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a previously reported kidnapping incident involving one Marian Remi ‘F’ of Lafayo Farm Settlement via Alaraba Village, Ile-Ido.

"The Command reassures residents that the safety of lives and property remains its top priority and, in furtherance of this commitment, continues to rely on credible intelligence and active public cooperation to combat crime effectively.

"Following such credible intelligence provided by members of the public, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, psc, mnips, promptly directed a coordinated operation which led to the arrest of three suspects—Musa Ajibola ‘M’ (29), Hassan Mohammadu ‘M’ (63), and Umaru Hassan ‘M’ (19)—on 21/04/2026 at Latayo Farm Settlement, Ile-Ido, all of whom have been directly linked to the kidnapping and subsequent release of the victim.

"In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, thereby providing further insight into the criminal operation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices and ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice.

"This operational success not only reflects the Command’s strategic and intelligence-driven policing approach but also underscores the effectiveness of the policy direction and leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olutunji Rilwan Disu, whose commitment to reform and enhanced service delivery continues to yield tangible results.

"Consequently, the Command acknowledges and commends the invaluable cooperation of members of the public whose timely and credible information has been instrumental to this achievement, noting that such collaboration remains the backbone of effective policing and crime prevention.

"While commending this support, the Commissioner of Police encourages citizens to deepen their trust in the Police and sustain this partnership through continuous intelligence sharing, mutual respect, and active engagement, as collective vigilance and cooperation remain key to building a safer and more secure society for all."
