Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected vandal on the Third Mainland Bridge and recovered vandalised road safety installations.

The suspect, identified as Dogara John, 18, was apprehended while allegedly removing reflective road studs installed on the bridge to enhance visibility and guide motorists, especially at night and during poor weather conditions.

A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of 20 of the reflective studs in his possession, police said, noting that the installations play a critical role in lane guidance and accident prevention on the busy corridor.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to protect critical public infrastructure and ensure the safety of road users across Lagos.

Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for vandalism, warning that any act capable of endangering lives or undermining public assets would be met with firm action.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around public infrastructure to the nearest police station or through designated emergency lines.

The police said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
