The Enugu State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security during the 2026 Easter celebrations, announcing a comprehensive deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festivity.
The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, gave the assurance in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu.

Giwa, who felicitated with Christians on the occasion of Easter, which commemorates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, urged the faithful to imbibe the virtues of love, sacrifice, humility and forgiveness exemplified by Christ. He also called on residents to promote peace, unity and lawful conduct during the celebrations.
According to the police boss, the Command has mapped out robust security measures, including the strategic deployment of officers to churches, recreational centres, major highways, motor parks and other public places across the state.

He further directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of tactical squads to intensify visibility policing, conduct confidence-building patrols and enhance intelligence-driven operations in collaboration with other security agencies.
The Commissioner also tasked the State Criminal Intelligence Department with strengthening the gathering of credible and actionable intelligence, warning that the Command would not tolerate any security lapses.

While reiterating the Command’s readiness to deal decisively with criminal elements, Giwa advised road users to comply with traffic regulations to avoid accidents during the festive period.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, adhere to security advisories and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
The police chief wished residents of the state a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
