The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and uncovered a gang armoury, recovering locally fabricated firearms and ammunition in coordinated operations across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, said the Command “remains resolute in dismantling criminal networks, mopping up illegal firearms, and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.”
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said operatives of the Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, uncovered a suspected criminal hideout along the Sapele–Warri Road near Adeje Community in the early hours of February 19.
The operation followed the interrogation of a 25-year-old suspect from Effurun, Dafiaga Timothy, allegedly linked to a syndicate terrorising commuters along the Warri–Sapele Road axis.

Acting on intelligence, the team stormed the hideout about 5:30 a.m., recovering a locally made long gun, a cut-to-size firearm, and a fabricated Beretta-style pistol loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, as well as 10 live cartridges and a dagger.
Police said the recovery “has significantly disrupted the operational capability of the criminal syndicate,” adding that the investigation is ongoing.
In a separate operation on February 18, operatives of Area Command Warri intercepted a tricycle along the Agbarho/Warri Expressway.
Two occupants fled, while the driver, Aliyu Sabo, 25, was arrested. A search led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, and one expended cartridge, among other items.
Sabo remains in custody as efforts continue to track down his accomplices.
