Police dissolve Rivers tactical teams, sets up VCRU
The Rivers State Police Command has announced the dissolution of Tactical Teams within the Command, in line with ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, professionalism, and public confidence in policing.

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the dissolution of Tactical Teams within the Command, in line with ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency, professionalism, and public confidence in policing.
The command said the action was in strict compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
A statement signed by the state's Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) ASP. Agabe Karbolo said following the directive, all disbanded teams had been consolidated into a single, specialized formation known as the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).

"The unit is mandated to respond swiftly and decisively to incidents of violent crime, while adhering to established rules of engagement and respect for fundamental human rights", the statement said.
The command also issued a strong warning against extortion, abuse of office, and all forms of unprofessional conduct and reminded officers that any violation of the Nigeria Police Force Code of Conduct and professional ethics would attract strict disciplinary action.
The commissioner of police reassured residents of Rivers State of the command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to cooperate with the police and report any misconduct or suspicious activities.
