The Delta State Police Command has stepped up efforts to rescue the abducted Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Hon. Abeke, following a high-level operational visit by the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi.
Oyeniyi conducted an on-the-spot assessment in Sapele on Saturday as part of a coordinated response, assuring residents that all necessary measures were being taken to secure the victim’s safe and unharmed release.
During the visit, the police chief inspected Debro Fred Guest House, where the abduction reportedly occurred, to obtain first-hand information and assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He also visited Ogorode Waterside, where a vehicle believed to have been used by the kidnappers was recovered.
The commissioner met with the victim’s family, including his wife, reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring his safe return. He further visited injured victims receiving treatment in hospitals following the attack.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the command is working in collaboration with other security agencies, deploying resources and acting on credible intelligence to track down the perpetrators.
“The command is fully committed to rescuing the victim unhurt and bringing those responsible to justice,” Edafe said.
The council boss was abducted about 7:23p.m Friday night, at the hotel located along Owumi Road, Sapele.
A vigilante, Ufuoma and one other were shot in the onslaught.
