Kano State Police Command has rescued a two-year-old kidnap victim, arrested three suspects, and recovered N930,000 from ransom paid by the family.

Police spokesman Abdullahi Kiyawa said in a statement on Saturday that the incident occurred on April 19, when a resident of Gwammaja Quarters, Dala local governmentarea, reported that his son, Aliyu Muhammad, was abducted in front of their home by unknown persons.

The kidnappers demanded N1 million ransom, which the family paid, but failed to release the child.

Following the report, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori directed the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to track the suspects.

Through technical intelligence, operatives located the hideout and arrested Hassan Umar, 26; Abdullahi Hamisu, 19; and Hussaini Saminu, 24, all of Gwammaja Quarters.

Investigation revealed the victim was held at Saminu’s residence in Gwammaja. He was rescued unhurt and reunited with his family.

Police recovered N930,000 from the suspects, part of the ransom paid.

Bakori commended the squad for its “professionalism, resilience, and tactical precision” and acknowledged technical support from the Office of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

He reiterated that the Command, under the IGP’s strategic guidance, “will remain relentless in its fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes,” warning that Kano would remain unsafe for criminals.

He urged parents to monitor their children and report suspicious movements, calling for continued public support with credible information.

The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation, police said.
