“Temisan, this wasn’t the plan. I have cried so much that I have a headache. But I’m consoled by the fact that you were such a good man. Thank you for the memories, the friendship, and the laughter. Rest well, my Egbon,” Mr Dirisu said.

The late journalist had worked with Lagos Television, HiTV, and other prominent media organizations in Nigeria.

Checks by The Nation showed that his last post on X was on April 14, 2026, when he wrote, “The Champions League is hard, man.”

His sudden death has thrown the sporting community in Nigeria into mourning, as he was very active and friendly with many of his professional colleagues.

According to reports, the deceased, a die-hard Arsenal fan, became sick midweek but breathed his last at the weekend.

Okomi graduated from the University of Uyo after graduating from the Nigeria Military School, Zaria. He once presented a sports programme on LTV 8 with Godwin Enakhena and Emeka Nwani.
