Popular Nigerian photographer and biker, Orowole Samuel Kolapo, popularly known as Kola Onifoto, has died after a motorcycle accident in the Kara area of Lagos.

He was 35.

According to reports, the brand influencer and travel enthusiast was involved in the collision on Sunday while riding a motorbike outside of Lagos.

Kola, who also worked as an e-hailing driver, had recently acquired the motorcycle.

Sources said he made the purchase after receiving a quit notice from his Lagos landlady, which led him to relocate to Otta, Ogun State, even though he continued working in Lagos.

He had posted on his official Facebook page a few hours before the accident that he was riding his bike to Akure.

“Big shout out to those who have ridden their bikes to every state in this country, to Africa, and across the world, especially women. My eye see wheeen,” he wrote on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Friends later announced online that he had been involved in a crash and was first taken to the emergency unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps at 7UP, Ojota.

He was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where friends, fans, and well-wishers continued to offer prayers for his recovery on social media.

However, he succumbed to his injuries in the late hours of Sunday, March 1.

News of his death has sparked an outpouring of tributes online, with many describing him as an upright and kind-hearted individual whose passing came as a shock.

Meanwhile, the Orowale family has officially confirmed his death, appealing for privacy as they grieve.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Kolapo Orowale, popularly known as Kola Onifoto, who lost his life on the ist of March.

“Kolapo was more than a brother he was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a steady presence in our lives. Known to many as Kola Onifoto, he touched countless hearts with his warmth, kindness, and generosity. His impact will remain with us forever.

“This loss is deeply painful for our family and for all who knew and loved him. We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

“We kindly ask that our privacy be respected as we mourn his loss. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due time.”
