Social media personalities Habeeb ‘Portable’ Badmus and Carter Efe yesterday traded threats during a formal face-off ahead of their celebrity bout at Chaos in the Ring 4, scheduled for May 1 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island.

The event, sanctioned by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control and promoted by Balmoral Group in association with Amir Khan’s AK Promotions, will be headlined by Ezra Arenyeka and Godday Appah. While their contest is billed as a WBO Peace Fight aimed at fostering unity between the Itsekiri and Ijaw communities, the two fighters exchanged heated rhetoric during the press conference.

Appah vowed to secure a knockout victory within six rounds, while Arenyeka countered by promising a stoppage in the fifth.

Portable, who previously secured exhibition wins over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington, stated his intention to claim a third symbolic belt by defeating Efe. In response, Efe dismissed Portable's previous record and predicted a swift conclusion to the fight.

The international card also features British southpaw Michael McKinson against Algerian prospect Mohammad Sahnoun and a cross-continental clash between Ghana’s Elvis Ahorgah and Newcastle’s Joe Laws. Other scheduled bouts include national middleweight champion Rasheed Adeyemo against Nicolaus Mdoe and teenage prospect Raheem Animashaun facing Tanzanian veteran Emmanuel Amos.

Balmoral Group CEO Ezekiel Adamu noted that the nine-bout event, which will be broadcast globally on DAZN, is designed to provide African athletes with a high-visibility platform to showcase their talent to a worldwide audience.

"It's entertainment, but I want these young guys to trust me that the world is watching. When you have a platform like this, it changes lives,” Adamu said.“ This is what it is all about for us: giving these guys the opportunity and visibility and showing the best of African boxing. It's wartime and let's show the world what we have to offer here in Africa."
