A advocacy group, Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa, has called for a shift of governorship from Ibadan in 2027 in Oyo State.
It said data, party membership and alliances showed a changing political landscape.
National Secretary, Favour Adewoyin, said zoning must be on reality, not sentiment.
He responded to an article that queried whether or not power could leave Ibadan.

Adewoyin said advocacy for rotation had expanded in the zones: Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Ibarapa, evolving from sectional agitation into coordinated political engagement and coalition building.
He cited 2023 polls, noting Oke-Ogun got the highest voter turnout compliance at 46.7 per cent, compared to Ibadan’s 22.6 per cent. Ogbomoso had 31.7 per cent, Oyo, 34.4 per cent and Ibarapa, 31.7 per cent.
The figures noted that Ibadan had 1,778,372 registered voters, with 401,209 votes cast, while Oke-Ogun got 305,634 from 651,090 registered voters.
Adewoyin argued when votes from other zones are aggregated, no single zone can determine poll victory alone, stressing elections here depend on inter-zonal alliances.
He referenced APC electronic registration data, which he said showed Oyo North recording 56,655 members (37.8 per cent), ahead of Oyo Central’s 51,325 (34.3 per cent) and Oyo South’s 41,788 (27.9 per cemt), with Saki West posting the highest local government figure.
