  • Appointees take oaths ahead of FEC meeting

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday swore in four new permanent secretaries and a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the State House in Abuja.

During the oath-taking ceremony, which was held before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the appointees took their oaths of office in a single batch and signed the official register.

The newly sworn-in permanent secretaries are: Mrs. Warrens Bekearedebo Augusta from Bayelsa State; Dr. Ayinde Shoretire from Ogun State; Mallam Aminu Sani Yargaya from Kano State; and Mrs. Nkiruka Bella Jones-Nebo from Enugu State.

Also sworn in was Rear Admiral Jamila Abubakar Sadiq Malafa (retd.) as the INEC national commissioner, representing Adamawa State.

The ceremony, anchored by the Director of Media and Publicity in the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, was attended by top government officials and FEC members.

Cabinet members who witnessed the ceremony included Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack.

Also in attendance were key cabinet members, including the Minister of Finance, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele; the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu; and the Minister of Housing, Muttaqa Rabe Darma, among others.
