Actor and model Tobi Bakre has highlighted diligence, professionalism, and consistency as the essential pillars for success in the entertainment industry.

Speaking on the Menisms Podcast, the 2018 Big Brother Naija star encouraged young actors to approach every task, no matter how small, with the utmost seriousness.

“To our colleagues out there, to our younger ones… it doesn’t matter what you are doing, just do it well," he said.

Bakre emphasised that life-changing opportunities often result from maintaining high standards in minor roles, noting that one’s work ethic serves as a constant audition.

"It doesn’t matter what you are doing, just do it well. You don’t know who is watching. You know, God has sent people several times, and you didn’t show them anything, so please show something,” he remarked, adding that many miss out on growth because they fail to demonstrate their value when given the chance.

To illustrate his point, the 31-year-old actor explained that he would entrust someone in a modest role, such as a car washer, with significant corporate responsibilities if they displayed exceptional commitment and seriousness.

“There are opportunities I will give to someone who I know washes cars, but I see the diligence, the seriousness, and the commitment in how they do what they do. I could put them in charge of a company once I see just how they’re handling that little thing,” he said.

After rising to fame as a finalist in Big Brother Naija Season 3, Bakre has since become a Nollywood powerhouse, recognised as the industry’s highest-grossing actor in 2025 with over N1.4 billion in box office revenue.

His performances include lead roles in Gangs of Lagos, Brotherhood, for which he won the AMVCA Best Actor in a Drama award, and the series Slum King.
