Residents of Amarata community, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the publisher of a local newspaper, The Light Newspaper, Mr Ebi Ozegbe.
The outreach featured blood sugar and Blood Pressure (BP) tests and distribution of free drugs to beneficiaries.
Ozegbe empowered several elderly women and widows with cash donations.
He said the programme was an opportunity to give back to the society and appreciated God for His love and mercy over the memorable milestone.

He said the prayers of the elderly and widows whom he had reached out to during his past celebrations had gone a long way in keeping him strong and healthy.
He noted that the free medical check-ups became imperative for people following many untimely deaths.
“Today, by the special grace of God I am 61. I am still strong and healthy. God has been so merciful to me. As a way of giving back to the society, I decided to give a token to the elderly and widows, which I know will go a long way for them no matter how small.
“Because of these little things we do for them, their prayers can take one to higher grace. I remember when my office got burnt while I was inside. The generator that was steaming got burnt beyond repair, but the tyre on which the generator was sitting did not catch fire and I was not hurt. That is God’s Grace,’’ Ozegbe said.
A beneficiary of the outreach, Miss. Sarah Kokorifa, praised the initiative.
