Pupils of Pessu Primary School, Warri, who led their school to victory in the 2025 Zenith Bank Delta Headmasters’ Cup have been rewarded with a cash gift of N100,000 each.

Also rewarded were members of the technical crew of the school.

The young footballers emerged champions in the primary school football competition, which featured about 700 public and private schools across Delta State.

In recognition of the achievement, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Comr. Isaac Agbateyiniro hosted the  team at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat in Warri on Monday, where he announced the cash reward for each player and member of the technical crew.

The council chairman praised the pupils for their determination and talent, noting that their triumph against hundreds of competing schools demonstrated the immense potential of young footballers in the area.

He also used the occasion to call on international football scouts from top clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United and others around the world to pay attention to the emerging talents from Pessu Primary School.

According to him, the players’ success despite limited facilities and training equipment showed how much more they could achieve if given the right opportunities and support.

Earlier, the Chief Inspector of Education in Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Samson Ugbejeh, who presented the team to the council leadership, commended the players and coaches for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

He described the pupils as future football stars and urged the local government chairman to continue supporting and nurturing their talents.

It would be noted that Ighogbady Primary School from the same Warri South LGA won the third edition and 2024 Zenith Bank Delta Headmasters’ Cup.
