The Chief Imam of Offa, Fadilat Sheikh Muideen Salman, has urged wealthy Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to deploy their resources toward the propagation of Islam.
He called on well-meaning Nigerians to dedicate their lives, wealth, and health to the worship of Allah in anticipation of the rewards promised to faithful believers.
Salman spoke as the guest lecturer at the second Ramadan lecture organised in honour of the late Abdulwasiu Adeniyi Aremu (WAMOD). He stressed the need for Muslims to remain sincere in their faith and follow the example of Prophet Muhammad so that their lives would not be lived in vain.
The cleric also praised the virtues of the late Aremu, noting that the good works and positive memories associated with him after his death reflected the life of a God-fearing Muslim.
He pointed to the mosque built in the memory of the late Iseyin-based business tycoon and the continued Islamic gatherings organised in his honour as evidence that he was loved by Allah. According to him, the initiatives being sustained by his family under the coordination of his wife, Alhaja Jemilat Oladunni Adunni (WAMOD), would attract divine rewards.
Salman emphasised that every action would be judged according to intention, urging Muslims to remain mindful of their deeds and ensure they engage only in acts that would guarantee eternal rest in paradise.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Aremu and asked Allah to grant him Aljannat Firdaous, while also seeking divine guidance and protection for the family he left behind.
The event also featured Quranic Memorisation and General Islamic Knowledge competitions. Winners in different categories received prizes.
In the Quranic Memorisation category, the top three participants among 20 contestants were rewarded with freezers and other items, including cash prizes.
