Synergy between the Federal Government and the federating units has the potential to ensure that public policies and programmes translate into tangible impact and empowerment at the grassroots, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, has said.
Goronyo said deeper collaboration among the federal, state and local governments would allow citizens to better feel the effects of governance, particularly ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Minister spoke in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State while flagging off distribution of cash and food items valued at over ₦200 million to residents, as part of his annual Ramadan support intervention aimed at easing economic pressure on vulnerable households.
He said cooperation between the Federal Government, the Sokoto State Government under Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, and political stakeholders in the state had created a framework for grassroots-focused programmes.
He added that alignment with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda was intended to strengthen governance delivery.
According to a statement by his media aide, Abdullahi Mohammed, the intervention comprised cash disbursements and food items, including rice, sugar, millet, maize and other staples.

The support was extended to political and ward executives, youth and women’s groups, students’ associations, community leaders, and other local organisations across the 11 wards of the LGA.
The statement said several trailers of rice and other food supplies were also distributed, with portions allocated to community associations, security agencies and public institutions within the area, to support Ramadan observance.
Goronyo reiterated the need for sustained economic empowerment at the grassroots, noting that improved livelihoods would help address unemployment, restiveness and social vices.
He also reaffirmed his support for the All Progressives Congress and its policy direction.
Speaking on behalf of the local community, Alhaji Hussaini Umar Gorau, Permanent Secretary and Senior Special Assistant to the Sokoto State Governor, thanked the Minister for the intervention and called for continued support for the APC-led administration.
Hon. Faruku Ahmad Rimawa also acknowledged the initiative, describing it as consistent with previous community-focused efforts by the minister.
