An initiative linked to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Sunday distributed food items to 5,000 households across 10 local government areas of Osun State to ease economic hardship during the 2026 Ramadan.
The programme, tagged Ilerioluwa Development Initiative, was facilitated by the minister’s son, Femi Oyetola, with a focus on supporting the elderly, widows, and other vulnerable residents during the holy month.
Speaking at the distribution venue located at the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, Femi Oyetola said the outreach was a continuation of similar interventions undertaken during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“This initiative is part of what I have been doing in the past, including during the last Christmas and New Year celebrations. It is a hand of love extended to the vulnerable, especially the aged, widows and widowers,” he said.
He explained that the intervention covered the Osun Central Senatorial District, which comprises 10 local government areas.

Represented by a former Senior Special Assistant on Student Mobilisation to Oyetola, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, he disclosed that the food items would reach 5,000 households, expressing confidence that the gesture would help ease financial pressure during Ramadan.
The distributed packages contained rice, garri, beans, milk, and beverages.

Also addressing beneficiaries, the Osun State Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Kudirat Fakokunde, criticised the incumbent administration, alleging inadequate attention to the welfare of party members and vulnerable residents.
She urged beneficiaries to share what they received with others in need, noting that the spirit of Ramadan encourages compassion and generosity.
Fakokunde also called on residents to support the party’s governorship candidate in the 2026 election.
