Ranchers Bees have sealed a long-awaited return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after emerging winners of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Northern Conference D, capping off a dramatic final day yesterday.

The Kaduna-based side, widely tipped to claim the sole promotion ticket following the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeals Committee’s decision that reshaped the group, achieved their objective despite stumbling in their final fixture. They fell 2–0 away to Gombe United, a result that briefly raised tension but ultimately did not derail their promotion charge.

Ranchers Bees finished top of the standings with 20 points from 12 matches, enough to secure their place in the elite division. The race behind them proved just as intense, with Kebbi United producing a commanding 3–0 victory over Jigawa Golden Stars to avoid relegation. That crucial win lifted Kebbi United to fifth position with 16 points.

Jigawa Golden Stars, who were the only side capable of displacing Ranchers Bees at the summit, fell short and ended the campaign in third place on 18 points. They finished behind Adamawa United, who also amassed 18 points but had already completed their fixtures prior to the final matchday.

At the bottom end of the table, the battle for survival went down to the wire. Bichi First FC narrowly escaped relegation in their debut NNL season, grinding out a vital 1–1 draw away to Yobe Desert Stars in Damaturu. The result ensured Bichi First finished sixth with 15 points, just enough to stay afloat, while Yobe Desert Stars settled for fourth place with 17 points.

Despite their victory over the champions, Gombe United could not avoid the drop. The Desert Scorpions needed favorable results elsewhere, but with none forthcoming, they finished seventh with 15 points and were relegated.

Ranchers Bees now join Inter Lagos, Sporting Lagos, and Doma United as the teams promoted to the NPFL, marking a significant milestone in their resurgence.
