Acting Amayanabo of Okpoama Kingdom in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Nathan Dimunanengi Egba-Dienagha, has assured subjects that his one year tenure would enshrine accountability, election and coronation of a new king for the kingdom.

The royal father, in a statement, promised to end cases of vendetta, revenge, discrimination or elimination in the kingdom despite that many people have tried to frame the narrative around court cases.

He said though the sudden and unexpected abdication of the former monarch, King Ebitimi Banigo, Okpo XXI, from the throne led to series of cases, they were seeking clarity and proper understanding of the Okpoama Kingdom’s constitution of 2008.

He called on the people of Okpoama Kingdom to view the declarative judgment passed by Justice T.Y. Abasi of the Brass-Nembe High Court in Suit No BYHC/CV/4/2025, on January 13, 2026, as an end to all such cases.

He promised to use his court-sanctioned 12 months tenure to see to the election and coronation of a new king for Okpoama Kingdom.

He said: ”Justice Abasi in his ruling stated explicitly that my tenure as Acting Amayanabo is for 12 calendar months, at the end of which period I must see to the election and coronation of a new king for our beloved Okpoama Kingdom.

“This obviously is a very serious and onerous assignment that requires total application of all my abilities, capabilities and the special grace of God.

“I, however, recognise that there is no way I can successfully deliver on this unique assignment without the full support and cooperation of every Okpoama man and woman. Critical decision-making process will involve wide consultations and consensus building.

“In light of the above, there is no time for vendetta, revenge, discrimination, or elimination. Rather, I call on everyone who loves and believes in Project Okpoama to join hands with me in working towards a new Okpoama that preaches and practises real love, durable peace and unity of purpose, which are some of the qualities our dear kingdom used to be known for among Nembe speaking people.”

He also assured of ensuring an era of proper finance management, transparency and development. ”I want to take this opportunity to assure all that under my watch as Acting Amayanabo, the finances of the kingdom will be handled carefully and in a transparent manner.

“Whatever funds that accrue to the kingdom will be deployed solely for the best interest of the people of the kingdom. We will work assiduously in collaboration with external partners and associates to attract development to our kingdom, while also tapping into our God-given resources to grow Okpoama economy.

“In that connection, let me assure our brothers and sisters on the Brass Island and the rest of Brass Local Government that I will always pursue peace and dialogue in all situations, in order to promote harmonious coexistence. It is, therefore, my hope and prayers that our neighbours will also seek to live with us in like manner too.”
