The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has directed all party executives still holding statutory government appointments to resign in compliance with the party’s constitution, or face forfeiture of their positions.

The party warned that holding dual executive positions in both government and the party structure is inconsistent with the principles of separation of powers and the internal discipline enshrined in the APC Constitution.

The Ogun State APC Publicity Secretary, Femi Nuberu, who disclosed this yesterday, said the measure is not intended to victimise anyone but is a necessary step to uphold the integrity of the party’s structures and ensure compliance with constitutional provisions.

The Nation learnt that dozens of people may be affected, particularly party executive members occupying statutory positions such as Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Supervisor, Special Adviser, Consultant, and Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Secretary.

“Any person within the categories listed above who wishes to continue serving as an EXCO member must submit a letter of resignation from their statutory appointment.

“Such resignation letters are to be addressed to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Local Government Service Commission,” Nuberu stated.
