Media personality Robert Ekpo has rejected a cease-and-desist notice from estranged wife Mayowa Lambe, calling her demand for N100 million in damages excessive, unfounded, and premature.
Ekpo responded on Thursday through TAP Legal Services, posting the letter on Instagram a day after Lambe’s legal team made her notice public.
The response, dated April 23 and signed by M. M. Obono, was sent to Chinedu Nwaneli of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation.
The letter said Ekpo ‘categorically denies the allegations’ and ‘takes strong exception’ to his statements being described as false, malicious, or defamatory.
It said Ekpo’s comments were based on personal experiences and matters he reasonably believes to be true, adding he did not act with malice or intent to damage Lambe’s reputation.

The letter read, “Any statements made by him, whether privately or on public platforms, were based on his personal experiences, understanding of events, and matters he reasonably believes to be true. At no time did he act with malice or with the intent to injure your client’s reputation.”
The letter said the dispute stems from a “complex interpersonal relationship” and facts cannot be selectively presented to build a misleading narrative against Ekpo.
It further read, “The issues referenced arise from a complex interpersonal relationship, the facts of which cannot be selectively presented to construct a misleading narrative against our client.”
It described the N100 million damages request as excessive and premature.
It said the three-day ultimatum was unreasonable and inconsistent with legal practice in a case involving disputed facts.

Ekpo’s lawyers said he holds documentary and testimonial evidence that contradicts several assertions in Lambe’s notice, including communications and interaction records.
They said the materials will be presented “at the appropriate time and forum.”
The letter warned Lambe’s camp of potential counterclaims. It said Ekpo will robustly defend any suit and reserves the right to file counterclaims for harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm from false or exaggerated accusations.
The letter read, “Should your client proceed with legal action, our client will robustly defend the suit and reserve the right to file appropriate counterclaims, including, but not limited to, claims for harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm arising from false or exaggerated accusations.”
It added that Lambe’s notice contained “an admission of some of our client’s claims.” Ekpo reserves the right to tender it in evidence in a petition to United States authorities, specifically the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

The letter said Ekpo remains open to lawful resolution but “will not be coerced into admissions or concessions under threat.”
“While our client remains open to lawful and structured resolution mechanisms, he will not be coerced into admissions or concessions under threat. Kindly govern yourselves accordingly.”
The legal exchange followed Ekpo’s appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he alleged Lambe secretly used contraceptives during their marriage, misled him about a Miami medical trip, and left him financially drained while living abroad. He said he discovered she remarried in Texas after 11 years together.
Lambe’s legal team said the traditional marriage was mutually dissolved with family consent before May 11, 2025, and no marriage existed at the time of the podcast. It said Lambe has financial records, medical documents, and communications that contradict Ekpo’s claims.
