Media Executive, Ralph Tathagata, has said there is no alternative to adoption of ethics in business. He spoke at Rotary Club of Ikeja Cosmopolitan’s event: ‘’Ethics in Business,’’ during District 9111 Governor, Henry Akinyele’s visit.

Tathagata said ethics forms the fulcrum on which society stands and that without it, things would fall apart. He said transparency and accountability are cornerstones of ethics.

Citing My Pikin syrup saga, he said the firm would have made a name and more money for itself but for the crises its product generated for it.

Poor ethics, he said, leads to losses and reputational problems. ‘’The risks involved in ethical malpractice outweighs the gains. Ethics cannot thrive without leadership...’’

Akinyele, who looked at the books of the club, lauded its growth and commitment to the organisation’s obligations.

He hailed club members ‘’for doing the work of Rotary’’. ‘’I am confident you will meet our financial commitments,’’ he said.

He however urged them on membership drive, adding: ‘Let’s be intentional about it.’’ He urged those who made promises to redeem them before the end of the service year.

Particularly, he praised the ‘’Doyen’’ of the club, Babatunde Salau, an Assistant Governor/District Chairman, Basic Education and Literacy, for his efforts in moving the ship of the club forward.

Welcoming the DG and his entourage, Charter President of the club, Damiella-Joy Solomon, said the event also coincided with first ‘’Thank God it’s Friday, where they wine and dine with members who are celebrating events such as birthdays wedding anniversaries and induction of some members.

She presented a birthday gift to the DG as well as some members.

At the event were the District Zone 1 Coordinator, Mufutau Adelotan, District Secretary, Tayo Hassan; and his predecessor, Tayo, among other district officials.
