Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated Otunba Busura Alebiosu, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), on his 90th birthday.

Alebiosu, the Otunba Gbelegbuwa of Ijebuland and Chairman of the Council of Otunbas of Ijebuland, turns 90 on Friday, April 24.

In a statement issued Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor described the nonagenarian as a stabilizer and a respected leader whose influence extends across Lagos State and beyond.

Sanwo-Olu noted that Alebiosu, popularly known as “Bush of Africa,” played a significant role in shaping Lagos politics, particularly during the Fourth Republic.

He commended the elder statesman’s decades of contributions to governance, recalling his service as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he represented the Somolu/Kosofe State Constituency.

“On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, family, the government and the people of Lagos State, as well as leaders and members of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), I celebrate our elder statesman and member of the Governance Advisory Council, Otunba Busura Alebiosu, on his 90th birthday,” the governor said.

He added that Alebiosu has remained consistent in his commitment to the political process, from the era of former Governor Michael Otedola, through the aborted Third Republic, to the current democratic dispensation.

“He is one of our leading lights. I see Baba Bush as a stabilizer — a man with tremendous experience and a wealth of knowledge. He is calm, respectable, and humble, with rare leadership qualities,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor prayed for the celebrant's continued good health, a sound mind, and longevity, expressing hope that he would continue to provide guidance and leadership.

“I genuinely wish our leader, Otunba Busura Alebiosu, a wonderful 90th birthday. I pray that as you grow older, you will continue to live with your head held high and remain a source of inspiration to many,” he said.
