Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated Olatunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police by President Bola Tinubu.

The governor described Disu’s elevation as well deserved, citing his professionalism, competence, and over three decades of service in the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu said the appointment was an honour to Lagos State, expressing confidence that Disu would excel in his new role.

According to him, the Acting IGP has the capacity, experience, and leadership credentials required to deliver on the mandate of securing lives and property across the country.

“I congratulate Mr. Olatunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police. His elevation to the position of number one police officer in Nigeria is an honour to Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He noted that Disu had distinguished himself in various commands, formations, and departments of the police at state, national, and international levels.

The governor recalled Disu’s tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, popularly known as the “Good Boys,” describing his performance as exemplary.

“Disu has served with exceptional leadership for over three decades and has a strong track record of performance. Having worked across different commands, I believe in his capacity to deliver on his new assignment,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism that Disu would deploy his wealth of experience to build a competent, accountable, transparent, and trustworthy police force that meets the expectations of Nigerians.
