Sanwo-Olu’s wife tasks parents on moral upbringing at Lagos Easter fiesta
The First Lady of Lagos State, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has urged parents to be deliberate in guiding their children along moral and spiritual paths, stressing that proper upbringing remains key

The First Lady of Lagos State, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has urged parents to be deliberate in guiding their children along moral and spiritual paths, stressing that proper upbringing remains key to building a better society.
She gave the advice at the 2026 Lagos State Family Easter Fiesta held at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, where children from diverse backgrounds gathered to celebrate with the First Family.
The event featured a unique approach as the First Lady engaged the children through storytelling, sitting with them in a circle to narrate the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

She explained that despite His good works, Jesus Christ was both loved and rejected, urging the children to understand the true meaning of Easter beyond festivities.
Dr Sanwo-Olu encouraged parents to intentionally teach their children about Christian seasons, noting that such knowledge would help shape their character and moral values.
“Our children must understand the significance of events surrounding Easter,” she said.
She added that Easter symbolises kindness, forgiveness, and spreading the message of God’s goodness, stressing that with Christ, children can live with confidence, courage, and joy.
In his goodwill message, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Ali-Balogun, called on parents and school authorities to sensitise children to the dangers of social vices such as cultism, bullying, and drug abuse.

He also advocated responsible use of social media, limiting it mainly to academic purposes.
Earlier, Director of Protocol in the Office of the First Lady, Bukola Gbajabiamila, welcomed participants and advised the children to be safety-conscious while enjoying the activities lined up for the celebration.
He commended the First Family for sustaining the annual event, which brings together children, including those with special needs, as well as elderly citizens from care homes, to promote love, unity, and inclusion.
In a short exhortation, the Venerable Opeyemi Victor Adeyemo of St. John’s Anglican Church, Araromi, Apapa, encouraged the children to embrace the message of Easter, centred on love, hope, and victory.
He cited the biblical account in Matthew 28:6–8, reminding them that the resurrection of Jesus Christ signifies new life and joy for believers.
Using simple illustrations, the cleric likened the stone at the tomb to life’s challenges, assuring the children that just as the stone was rolled away, God is able to help them overcome difficulties.
He urged them to trust God always and share love with others.
