Governor Dauda Lawal paid an unscheduled visit to the Sardauna Memorial Stadium in Gusau, which is undergoing remodelling and renovation.

During the visit, he expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done so far, stressing the importance of maintaining momentum while upholding high construction standards to ensure the project's timely completion.

This was revealed in a statement signed by Jamilu Bello, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, on Tuesday.

The project includes comprehensive upgrades to the main pitch, spectator stands, seating capacity, drainage systems, internal access roads, and other essential infrastructure designed to transform the stadium into a modern sporting complex befitting the state.

The governor was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Haruna Dikko Gusau, alongside senior government officials and project engineers.

The statement said the visit was part of a structured monitoring strategy designed by the ministry to ensure compliance with approved standards, specifications, and project timelines.

Engr. Dikko highlighted the ministry’s rigorous technical oversight, continuous site supervision, and adherence to engineering best practices.

He assured the governor that the project is being executed in line with approved designs and quality benchmarks, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to delivering durable and sustainable infrastructure.

The permanent secretary said the remodelling of the stadium represents a strategic investment in youth development, sports promotion, and community engagement.

He said that upon completion, the upgraded facility will meet modern standards and serve as a multi-purpose complex capable of hosting major sporting competitions and large-scale public events.
