Two children kidnapped from Umuezeokoha community in Ebonyi State have been rescued by the Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA).
The victims, aged three and five, were reportedly abducted from Ezza North Local Government Area and taken to Anambra by a suspected child trafficker identified as Sunday Nonye.
Confirming the development, SASA Director, Chief Monday Nwokoye, said the suspect was arrested following a tip-off, while the children were safely recovered and reunited with their parents in Ebonyi State.

He disclosed that the suspect was tracked to a hotel in Nkpor, where he was allegedly waiting to sell the children.
According to him, the suspect was first taken to the SASA office in Upper Iweka, Onitsha, before being handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Awka for further investigation.
Nwokoye added that preliminary findings indicate the suspect may be linked to a broader child trafficking network operating across multiple states, including Rivers, Lagos, Oyo and Edo.

He noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate, including a suspect identified as a medical worker in Nnewi.

The SASA director commended the Anambra State Government under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, stating that improved security coordination has enhanced the squad’s operations.
He assured the public of sustained efforts to tackle child trafficking and related crimes in the region.
Meanwhile, a viral video circulating online shows residents of Umuezeokoha celebrating the safe return of the children.
