Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu has reportedly emerged as a primary target for Saudi Pro League giants Al Ahli.

According to Fichajes via OwnGoalNigeria, the Jeddah-based club is prepared to launch a significant bid to secure the towering striker ahead of the summer transfer window.

Onuachu has been in sensational form for Trabzonspor this season, spearheading their charge in the Turkish Süper Lig. With 17 goals in just 20 appearances, including an impressive scoring streak in six consecutive matches, the 31-year-old currently sits atop the league’s scoring charts. This prolific output has made him one of the most sought-after targets for clubs looking for a proven "No. 9" outside of Europe’s traditional top five leagues.

Al Ahli’s interest is reportedly driven by the need for a tactical contingency plan. With England international Ivan Toney linked with a high-profile return to the Premier League, Al Ahli viewed Onuachu as the ideal "like-for-like" replacement. Standing at 2.01m, Onuachu offers the same physical presence and aerial dominance that has made Toney a success in the Gulf state.

The Nigerian international is said to be open to the move, which represents a potentially career-defining payday. Reports suggest the Saudi offer includes a salary approximately three times higher than his current earnings in Turkey. However, any deal will require a green light from Trabzonspor, as Onuachu remains under contract until June 2028 after making his move to the Black Sea Storm permanent last summer.

Fresh off a bronze-medal finish with the Super Eagles at the 2025 AFCON, Onuachu remains a vital component of the national setup. He is expected to lead the line for Nigeria in the upcoming Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in Amman, Jordan, where the Super Eagles are scheduled to face Iran and the host nation this March.
