Senator visits Kaima, promises follow up on intervention

The lawmaker representing Kwara North, Senator Sadiq Umar, has visited Woro and Nduku communities of Kaiama Local Government.

He engaged officials of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and military officers overseeing ‘Operation Savannah Shield’ deployed on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure safe resettlement of the people and to secure the zone.

He pledged to intensify follow-up actions to ensure promised interventions and support reach the affected communities.

As part of immediate relief measures, the senator provided palliatives and cash support to victims of the attacks.

He urged residents to remain hopeful, vigilant and cooperative by sharing information with security agencies to aid in safeguarding lives and property.

Senator Sadiq visited Woro community to assess the extent of damage caused by recent attacks and commiserate with the affected families and community members.

The visit formed part of the senator’s sustained efforts to empathise with his constituents, engage community leaders and support ongoing recovery and security interventions.

During the visit, Senator Sadiq interacted with residents and local leaders, offering heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and reaffirming his solidarity with the communities ‘’at this difficult time.’’

He met the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, alongside chiefs from communities.

He also visited burial sites of the victims and toured locations where belongings were destroyed.

The lawmaker visited survivors of the attacks receiving medical care at Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, where he sympathised with the injured victims, encouraged them and offered support to ease their recovery.

The Village Head of Woro, Alhaji Umar Salihu, thanked Senator Sadiq and his team for the visit.

The lawmaker expressed appreciation to the Federal Government under President Tinubu, Kwara State Government led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and all Nigerians who have stood by the people of Woro, Nuku and Kaiama Local Government.
