The Western Nigeria Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (WNUC) has unveiled plans for a major evangelistic outreach tagged, ‘Africa for Christ: Arise in Hope,’ scheduled to hold in Lagos later this month.
Speaking at a media briefing, The President of WNUC, Pastor Ezekiel Adeleye, said the two-week, city-wide programme would run from April 26 to May 9, 2026, at the Indoor Sports Complex of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba.
Adeleye described the initiative as a gospel-driven mission aimed at spreading the message of salvation while addressing the spiritual and social needs of the people.
“Africa for Christ is not just an event; it is a gospel commission from our Lord Jesus Christ. We will gather for salvation messages, fervent prayers for our nation, and ministry to the sick,” he said.
He disclosed that the programme will feature free medical outreach, with doctors, nurses, and pharmacists providing healthcare services to thousands at no cost. Youth empowerment sessions, family life programmes, and counselling services are also part of the lineup.
According to him, the outreach is designed to take a holistic approach to ministry by addressing the mind, spirit, body, and soul.

Adeleye further revealed that millions of participants are expected to join the programme both physically at the Lagos venue and virtually through multiple viewing centres across Africa.
He added that organisers are working closely with security agencies, traffic management authorities, and the University of Lagos to ensure safety and smooth coordination throughout the event.
Also speaking at the briefing, Pastor Paul Douglas, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States, emphasised that the campaign is centred on sharing hope through Jesus Christ.
“We are not here to sell hope; we are here to share hope. And that hope is found only in Jesus Christ,” Douglas said.
He noted that the world is currently faced with uncertainty, conflict, and growing anxiety, stressing that faith in Christ remains the ultimate solution.
“That answer is not only for Lagos or Nigeria, but for Africa and the entire world,” he added.
Douglas commended the University of Lagos for providing the venue and acknowledged the role of Hope Channel International in broadcasting the programme globally.
He expressed optimism that the outreach would bring healing, restoration, and renewed hope to individuals and families, adding that participants would leave with a deeper sense of purpose and faith.
