Diego Simeone could not hide his admiration after Ademola Lookman delivered an eye-catching display against Real Madrid at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, with the Atlético Madrid boss singling out the winger’s growing influence beyond just numbers.

Speaking after the encounter, Simeone focused less on goals or assists and more on Lookman’s evolving all-round game, an attribute he holds in high regard.

Known for demanding tactical discipline from his players, the Argentine coach praised the Nigerian international for embracing responsibility both in attack and defense.

Simeone described Lookman as a player “improving” and “working very well,” underlining how his commitment off the ball has added a new layer to Atlético’s structure. He noted that the winger’s defensive awareness and work rate were just as impressive as his attacking contributions on a demanding night in Madrid.

The Atlético boss further highlighted Lookman’s mentality, portraying him as a player eager to grow. According to Simeone, the Super Eagles star possesses “a big heart and a desire to learn,” qualities he believes will continue to drive his development within the team.

The Nigerian has played 14 games for Atletico Madrid since his switch from Atalanta in January scoring five goals and three assists including goals against Barcelona and Real Madrid.
