The Sokoto Youth Emancipation Front (SYEF) has berated former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal over comments attributed to him at the ADC state congress where he reportedly declared that Governor Ahmed Aliyu will not be re-elected.

Addressing journalists in Sokoto, the group’s leader, Comrade Hamisu Sani, described the remark as “misplaced and unbecoming,” arguing that Tambuwal lacks the moral authority to question the performance of the current administration.

Sani noted that while Tambuwal served two terms as Governor, his record, in the group’s view, cannot compare with what has been achieved so far under Aliyu.

“We find it surprising that Tambuwal would make such a statement, knowing fully well that his eight-year tenure cannot match the performance being recorded by Governor Aliyu,” he said.

The group cited improvements in water supply, housing delivery and salary payments as areas where the current administration has outperformed its predecessor.

It claimed that longstanding water challenges have been addressed, abandoned housing projects completed, and additional units constructed. All areas where Tambuwal failed miserably.

On workers’ welfare, SYEF reminded Tambuwal that salary payments under his administration were routinely delayed, while the current government has maintained a consistent timeline, paying salaries not later than the 24th of every month.

The group further cautioned political actors, especially former office holders, to be measured in their public statements, noting that residents have not been afflicted by amnesia and therefore, remain mindful of past and present governance records.
