Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has urged corps members posted to the state to take advantage of the service year to learn, teach and leave a positive, lasting impact in the state.

Soludo gave the charge on Friday at the Swearing-in Ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South LGA of the state.

The governor, represented by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Ifeatu Emeodi, also charged the corps members to commit fully to the camp activities, embrace discipline and foster good relationships with their colleagues and host communities.

He assured prioritization of the welfare and safety of the corps members, saying his government had liaised with security agencies to ensure a safe environment within and around the camp and in communities where they would be deployed.

He said, "Your willingness to participate, to live and work in communities different from where you grew up, and to contribute your skills and energy to national integration is both noble and necessary.

"Your service will strengthen the bonds that hold our diverse country together and will bring fresh ideas, skills, and hope to communities across Anambra State.

"Health services are available on site, and we will continue to coordinate with NYSC to ensure prompt care and attention whenever needed.

"Should any corps member face issues that require intervention, the State Government, working with NYSC officials, will act swiftly and decisively.

"On policy and areas where your support is most needed: Anambra State is focused on human capital development, education, healthcare outreach, rural infrastructure, agricultural value chains, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.

"You will be deployed to places where these needs are significant. I urge you to apply your training, creativity, and determination to support primary and secondary schools."

Earlier, State Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, said a total of 2,300 corps members, consisting of 1,080 males and 1,220 females, were ready for swearing-in during the event.

She urged them to strictly adhere to all existing laws, NYSC regulations, and security guidelines.

"Discipline remains a core value of the NYSC Scheme. Through military drills, physical training, and sporting activities, corps members will build physical fitness, sharpen mental alertness, and strengthen teamwork," she added.
