House of Representatives Speaker  Abbas Tajudeen is to seek re-election to represent Zaria Federal Constituency in the general election next year.

The Speaker was rumoured to be eyeing the Senate seat currently occupied by Senator Khalid Ibrahim Mustapha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

There are, however, insinuations that Tajudeen dropped the ambition following the intervention of Governor  Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

Sani was said to have told the Speaker that he should return to the House and that there were ongoing talks with the All Progressives Congress(APC) leadership for him to retain his position as Speaker.

The Speaker’s Media Office was yet to react to the insinuations as of press time yesterday but Tajudeen’s close aide told The Nation that the Speaker would seek re-election to the House of Representatives.

The aide said: “The question is if the Speaker ever told anybody that he was contesting the election to the Senate? To the best of my knowledge, he has told nobody that he wants to go to the Senate.

“My boss wants to return to the House of Representatives. That is all I can tell you now.”

Former   Governor  Ramadan Yero is, however, favoured to fly the APC flag for Kaduna North following support by  Governor Sani and other key stakeholders in the area.
