Support group of AP C, Edo APC Media Diaspora Group, has said the state chapter of the party, led by Jarret Tenebe is not doing enough to project policies and achievements of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
It said opposition elements have attacked APC and the government, led by Okpebholo, but the Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadia, failed to defend the party or counter false narratives.
The group, in a statement by its General Coordinator, Taiu Omoruyi, and General Secretary, Dr. Alasa Braimoh, said Uwadia opted to defend the excesses of Tenebe.
It said Tenebe’s actions have continued to bring the party into disrepute, especially making statements suggesting pre-determined outcomes of next month’s primary election.
It noted comments as “We will not give tickets to serial losers” and “the right person is known but not a pastor” undermine democracy.
“More troubling is the impression outcomes are pre-determined, contrary to tenets of fairness and transparency under Electoral Act.
“We emphasise that intimidation will not silence concerned party members. Our demand is simple: Mr. Jarret Tenebe must conduct himself in line with the expectations of his office or step aside for a more competent and disciplined leader.”
“We call on Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Monday Okpebholo, and other responsible APC leaders to intervene before further damage is done to the unity and credibility of the party in Edo State.”
Spokesman for the Edo APC, Peter Uwadia, Uwadia, said Tenebe has proven himself to be a unifying figure by reconciling different interest and fostering a shared sense of purpose among party members.
