The ruling All Progressives Congress is set to hold its state congresses today. The exercise is coming on the heels of the successful completion of the ward congresses on the 28th of February and local government congresses, along with the election of 3 delegates per local government for the National Convention on Saturday 21st of February.
However, due to a Federal High Court, Akure Division, the Ondo State, order yesterday has been restrained from holding its congress. The congresses are part of the requirement ahead of the APC’s National Convention slated for the 27th and 28th of March.
According to the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, appeals arising from the congresses will be heard on Wednesday 4th of March, 2026.

Lagos to pick officers The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State will hold its congress today at the  Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, formerly Onikan Stadium).

The congress is being conducted in accordance with Article 12. 8 of the party’s constitution.

Expected at the congress are members of the Advisory Council from the State, the State Chalrman and members of the State Executive Committee, Governor and Deputy Governor, all serving and past members of the National Assembly, who are members of the Party from the State, and all members of the National Executive Committee from the state,

A statement by thd Congress Committee said serving and past members of the House of Assembly, elected Local Government Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen, and 245 elected Councillors, Chairmen and Secretaries of the party in the Local Government Areas are also expected.

Also, five delegates per ward elected at the Ward Congress, and members of the Zonal Executive Committee will participate.

According to the Congress Committee, “all delegates are required to present their valid party membership cards and official accreditation tags for entry.”

Court stops process  in Ondo

A Federal High Court, Akure Division, Ondo State has stopped the All Progressives Congress (APC) state congress today.

Justice Toyin Adegoke gave the interim order yesterday after hearing an ex-parte motion brought some aggrieved members of the party, led by Lawrence Adebayo.

APC had in a statement signed by Mr. Alex Kalejaye, the party’s publicity secretary, announced Tuesday for its congress.

But in a suit marked FHC/AK/CS/25/2016, Adebayo and seven others, complained that they were allegedly excluded from the 2026 Ward and Local Government Congresses of the party held last week.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the APC are respondents.

The aggrieved APC members who sued for themselves and on behalf of 7,427 other party members through their lawyer, Adedayo Adedeji, SAN, asked the court to restrain the party and INEC from proceeding with the congress.

The applicants are also challenging the Ward and LG congresses held in the state on February 18 and 21, 2026.

They had alleged breaches of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, INEC regulations, as well as the APC Constitution and guidelines in the conduct of the congresses.

However, Justice Adegoke after listening to the counsel to the applicants, Adedeji, SAN, who led Mustapha I. Abubakar, SAN, alongside other lawyers, and after reviewing the affidavit of extreme urgency and supporting exhibits, granted the interim reliefs sought.

Justice Adegoke also directed the parties to maintain the “status quo ante bellum” as it existed before the conduct of the disputed Ward and Local Government Congresses, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion

It’s affirmation in Kogi, Edo

The party seemed to have concluded on affirmative arrangement in Kogi and Edo States.

While it is confirmed that Edo APC is going for affirmative, there were Indications yesterday that the party may adopt affirmative arrangement in Kogi State for its congress scheduled for today.

Edo acting Chairman, Jarret Tenebe, said adequate preparations have been made for the party to have a peaceful Congress.

It was gathered that the party leaders have agreed to return Tenebe as substantive Chairman of the party.

However, as at 4p.m there were no visible signs at the party’s state headquarters in Lokoja of any preparation for the exercise.

Party officials who kept mute were seen driving in and out of the secretariat.

Some party members who pleaded anonymity revealed that party leaders in the state could have settled for affirmation method for the state congress.

“The party leaders will come out with list of executives settled for through affirmation , just like it was done during the ward congress “,a party member disclosed.

No party official was ready to comment on the development.

Kwara: 965 delegates to participate

No fewer than 965 delegates from 193 wards will attend today’s Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event will take place in Ilorin, the state capital.

The programme will commence by 10a.m and it is expected to be attended by all qualified delegates of the party, Publicity Secretary of the party, Abdulwaheed Babatunde has said in a statement.

He quoted the Chairman of the state APC Congress Committee, Abdullahi Samari, encouraging all delegates to be prompt to venue of the event.

The party had earlier held its ward and local government congresses amid fanfare across the 193 wards in the 16 LGAs of the state

Imo: All offices open for contest

All elective offices in Imo State will be contested by qualified candidates, the APC state’s chairman, Dr. Macdonald Ebere, has said. 

Ebere made this known while speaking to The Nation yesterday.

“We have 27 elective offices across the state. We are going to follow the guideline procedurally to elect the officers,” he said, reaffirming the party’s commitment to a transparent process.

The chairman also emphasized that all necessary facilities are in place to ensure a fair congress, stating, “We are going to follow the guideline procedurally to elect the officers.”

He clarified that there will be no consensus candidate, as all 27 elective offices across the state will be contested through elections.

It ’ll be family affair in Plateau

The APC Plateau State chairman Hon Rufus Bature has assured that the congress holding today in Jos, the state capital will be a family affair.

Bature said, “On Tuesday, by the grace of God, the party will hold its state congress. And from the buildup, the congress will be peaceful and successful.

According to Bature, there are 36 state executive positions of the party, though I’m not sure if all the positions are open for contest, but majority of the positions will have contestants.

“The congress promised to be the biggest gathering of the party chieftains because it is the biggest political party in the state. It is also going to be a family affairs, there will be no rancour, it is a family affairs.”

Oyo set for action

All is set for the state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state.

The event is slated for the Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital city.

When contacted, the Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare said the party is only putting finishing touches to its plan.

He said the congress will take place as scheduled and directed by the National leadership of the party.

He disclosed that the National Committee assigned to conduct the congress in the state has arrived Ibadan.

He assured on adequate security of life and property at the venue.

Mode uncertain in Abia APC

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will tomorrow join their counterparts across the country scheduled to hold in Umuahia, the state capital.

Sources from the party disclosed that the venue for the state congress will be Chidiebere Transport premises, Ugwunchara, Umuahia North local government area of the state.

The Nation had earlier reported that as part of resolution during a stakeholders meeting involving different factions of the party in Abuja, the stakeholders unanimously chose former Abia State House of Assembly lawmaker, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, as the state chairman, while Senator Orji Uzor Kalu was asked to bring the party Secretary as chairman.

, just as the Hon. Minister of State for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was asked to bring candidate for the party’s Organising Secretary.

It was not clear of the positions ceded to the camps of former NALDA Executive Secretary, Paul Ikonne, former Minister of State for Mines, Hon. Uche Ogah and among others.

Sources in the party disclosed that what could possibly play today will be to rectify the choice of leaders already selected by the leaders of the party as was the case in the ward and local government area congresses.

Jigawa opts for consensus

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State have agreed to consensus arrangement in its forthcoming congress scheduled to hold at the Dutse City Stadium, the state capital.

Speaking to The Nation, the state publicity secretary, Mr. Bashir Kundu, said the congress will be inclusive, giving every card-carrying member the opportunity to participate.

He explained that during a recent stakeholders meeting presided over by the state party leader, His Excellency Governor Malam Umar Namadi.

“So also will be the process for the state congress,” Kundu stated.

“Forming the executive through consensus reflects the generosity and quality leadership of Governor Namadi, fostering unity and trust among all members across the state.”

He added that the APC remains a united entity, ensuring that members at all levels are carried along in party activities.
