Sunmbo Adeoye, wife of Pastor David Adeoye, has spoken about her previous relationship with music star 2Baba and her journey toward personal growth and healing.

In a recent interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown on her talk show, Adeoye said she made a conscious decision not to allow her past experiences to define her future.

“That season taught me that God has a plan for everyone, but I chose not to equate a bad decision with a bad life,” she said.

Adeoye explained that her transformation came from a clearer understanding of purpose and faith. “When you understand purpose, your pain will have a meaning,” she added.

She noted that this perspective helped her attach meaning to past challenges rather than be weighed down by them.

Adeoye also praised her husband, Pastor David Adeoye, describing him as a significant blessing in her life.

“Just resist the urge to shalaye. My husband was not on a rescue mission, and I wasn’t trying to prove a point.

"My husband was my divine compensation, orchestrated by God. It is the grace of God that allows it to outlast the gossip."

"If you ask me, Sunmbo, what precisely did to you, I surrender. I threw away the Google Map and said, “God, just navigate my journey the way you want it to be", she said.

Regarding the criticism she faced, Adeoye revealed that it was challenging when people distanced themselves by leaving the church.

“People left the church, and it hurt not because of reputation but because leadership carries responsibilities. These are people you've interceded for, stood in the gap with and supported them in their own season. So when people leave, you will feel it but I also understand that because people have a major role in your past does not mean that God permit them in your future, let them go so we allowed them to go but some have returned and we've received them with open hands”, she said.
