The tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East heightened on Monday after Senator Gbenga Daniel was denied entry to a key senatorial meeting in Ijebu-Ode.
Daniel, who represents Ogun East in the 10th National Assembly and is seeking re-election, arrived at the venue, Adeola Odutola Hall, only to be stopped at the entrance.
The meeting was reportedly convened to take critical decisions on the party’s senatorial ticket for the district.

The incident reflects an escalating power struggle between Daniel and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who is also believed to be interested in the same Senate seat on the APC platform.
The dispute between both men, once political allies, has intensified over control of the party structure in Ogun East.

Daniel had earlier alleged that the state government was using its influence to target him politically, including claims of a controversial suspension by the APC state leadership.
A video circulating on Facebook showed the moment Daniel’s convoy was blocked, while supporters outside the hall appealed for him to be granted access.

Addressing his supporters at the gate, Daniel said he had arrived as early as 10:00 a.m. for the caucus meeting but was prevented from entering.
“Today is our caucus meeting in Ijebu-Ode. I arrived early, but they told me I cannot go in,” he said. “If any decisions are taken here without my participation, they will not stand. Let them carry on.”
As of the time of filing this report, the senator remained outside the venue as the meeting continued, raising concerns over the credibility of any resolutions reached without his presence.
