The residents of Okitipupa Local Council Area of Ondo State were thrown into mourning on Tuesday following the killing of three children in a suspected domestic attack.
The victims, reportedly from the same extended family, were hacked to death with a machete in their residence, in what community sources described as a shocking and tragic incident.

One of the deceased was identified as a female student enrolled in the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB), alongside her cousin and another young boy.
The third victim was said to be the biological son of the suspected attacker, who is believed to be mentally unstable.
Sources said the suspect allegedly carried out the attack before fleeing the scene, leaving residents in disbelief.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the incident as horrific, noting that the victims were related and full of promise before their untimely death.

Findings further showed that the family head, identified as Baba Agbaye, had earlier left the house with his wife and youngest child for their farm.
It was gathered that they later encountered the suspect on their way back, unaware that the killings had already taken place at home.
The remains of the victims have been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital.
Residents have continued to express grief over the development, describing it as a painful and unfortunate occurrence that has plunged the entire community into deep sorrow.
The spokesperson for the state Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jimoh Abayomi, said the suspect has been arrested.
“The suspect has been arrested, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
“The Command urges the good people of Ondo State to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that due diligence will be observed to ensure that justice is served accordingly,” he stated.
