President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu as the new Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA).
The appointment, which took effect from April 16, is for an initial term of four years and is in accordance with Section 5 of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act, 2015.
A statement yesterday in Abuja by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and signed by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Chris Ugwuegbulam, said Dr. Zuntu brings to the role extensive experience as a public health professional and policy strategist.
The statement noted that the new NBMA boss has a proven track record of driving impactful national programmes, positioning her to strengthen the agency’s regulatory mandate.

President Tinubu urged Dr. Zuntu to deploy her expertise towards advancing the objectives of the agency and contributing meaningfully to national development.
“Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu is a Public Health professional and policy strategist with a proven track record of driving impactful national programs.
“The President tasks the appointee to contribute her expertise to the agency for the good of the nation,” the statement said.
The National Biosafety Management Agency is responsible for regulating the safe use of modern biotechnology and ensuring adequate protection of human health and the environment in Nigeria.
