In a statement on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said Omololu’s life and public engagements reflect a consistent devotion to the preservation of Yoruba heritage, democratic ideals, and good governance.
Tinubu noted that the Afenifere leader has remained at the forefront of the struggle for democracy in Nigeria for decades, while also promoting unity and solidarity in Yorubaland.
“He was part of NADECO Abroad, which took the battle for the sanctity of June 12 and termination of military rule in Nigeria to the international community. Also, to date, Abagun remains a prominent member of Idile Odua,” the President said.
Tinubu further commended Omololu’s principled stance on national issues and his steadfast support for the leadership of Afenifere under Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing it as particularly noteworthy.

“As a leader in Afenifere, his principled position on issues and steadfast support for Baba Fasoranti’s leadership are particularly noteworthy,” the President remarked.
The President also acknowledged Omololu’s support for him and the Renewed Hope administration, noting that his commitment to progressive politics and democratic stability has remained consistent over the years.
Tinubu prayed for long life, wisdom, and God’s abiding grace for the Afenifere chieftain as he clocks 70, which he described as the Biblical age of three scores and ten.
Omololu is widely regarded in Yoruba political circles as a key figure in the pro-democracy movement and an influential voice in the socio-political mobilisation of the South-West.
